Alberta candidates

Alberta has invited 2,284 immigration candidates in 2021

Alberta held a new draw on June 22, inviting 184 Express Entry (EE) candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. Currently, the province has invited 2,284 EE candidates in 2021.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) issued invitations to candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of at least 300. This is the second time this month that the province issues invitations with the same minimum score requirement.

Express Entry Stream selection

The AINP regularly reviews available candidates in the federal Express Entry pool. Based on available profile information in the portal, the AINP draws to select candidates from the pool, inviting them to submit a completed application to the AINP.

Notification of Interest letter

Candidates may receive a Notification of Interest letter if they:

– Have an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool
– Have stated an interest in immigrating permanently to Alberta
– Are working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification
– Have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 300

The point of this particular PNP is to support the province’s economic development and diversification priorities.

Factors that increase chances

According to AINP, if the candidate meets one or more of the following adaptability factors may also increase the likelihood of receiving a Notification of Interest letter:

– Have an Alberta job offer and/or work experience
– Are a graduate of a Canadian post-secondary institution
– Have a parent, child, brother, and/or sister who is a permanent resident living in Alberta, or a Canadian citizen living in Alberta.

If you are invited to submit an application, you must also meet assessment criteria. You must review the assessment criteria before applying.

Number of nominations that the AINP can issue

The number of nominations that the AINP can issue in 2021 is not yet available. In 2020, Alberta was allowed to issue 6,250 nomination certificates. However, due to COVID-19, the AINP issued 4,000 certificates by June 2020.
