Apply for Permanent Residence

Canada invited 521 PNP candidates to Apply for Permanent Residence

Today, September 15, Canada invited 521 candidates to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence (PR) in the newest Express Entry draw. The draw targeted candidates who had previously received a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 732. But remember, the score cut-off is relatively high because all PNP candidates in the EE pool automatically get 600 points added to their score. These candidates now have 60 days to apply for permanent residence.

As usual, IRCC is using a tie-breaking rule. This explains that if more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their EE profiles.

Tie-breaking rule: February 24, 2021 at 10:46:54 UTC

In the previous PNP draw (two weeks ago) Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 635 candidates with scores of at least 764. It is important to know that this is now the 18th PNP-specific draw of the year.

What to do if you receive an invitation to apply?

If you were invited to apply for permanent residence, you’ll get a message in your account telling you:

  • Which program you’ve been invited to apply for
  • What to do next

Also, you’ll need to show proof of the information you gave in your EE profile. IRCC will assess whether the information you submit in your application is different from what was in your profile. If the information is false or left out important details, IRCC could:

  • Refuse your application
  • Find you inadmissible
  • Bar you for 5 years from applying to come to Canada for any reason
