Canada to change travel restrictions for immediate family members
Some immediate family members who needed to travel to Canada to unite with their families were exempt from some travel restrictions. However, due to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada is adjusting its border measures for this group.
Now, immediate family members may not be able to travel to Canada on or after January 15, 2022, even if they:
- have a valid visa or eTA, or
- were previously issued a letter by IRCC exempting them from the travel restrictions,
According to an email that IRCC is sending to some immediate family members, as of January 15, most foreign nationals will need to qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller. Moreover, IRCC mentioned that if people do not qualify as fully vaccinated traveller, they will need to meet one of the “new limited exemptions“.
So far, you can check out if you can enter Canada, here. You can also consult more information about travelling, testing, quarantine, and borders requirements on the Government’s Website. Although, it is possible that we will see these new changes in border measures, on January 15, 2022.
