Express Entry Draw #220: 787 PNP candidates invited
787 PNP candidates were invited to apply for permanent residence in the eighth Express Entry draw of the year.
The April 13th draw targeted Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 782 points. It is just 3 points lower than the previous draw. Moreover, the score cut-off is relatively high because all PNP candidates in the Express Entry pool automatically get 600 points added to their score.
In this round, the tie-break rule applied to candidates who submitted their profiles before April 07, 2022, at 16:31:21 UTC. Invited candidates now have 60 days to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Previous Draws:
March 30, 2022: | 919 PNP candidates invited | 785 CRS points |
March 16, 2022: | 924 PNP candidates invited | 754 CRS points |
March 2, 2022: | 1,047 PNP candidates invited | 761 CRS points |
February 16, 2022: | 1,082 PNP candidates invited | 710 CRS points |
February 2, 2022: | 1,070 PNP candidates invited | 674 CRS points |
January 19, 2022: | 1,036 PNP candidates invited | 745 CRS points |
January 5, 2022 | 392 PNP candidates invited | 808 CRS points |
In the first quarter of 2022, Canada only invited 6,470 EE candidates to apply for immigration. This is one of the lowest first quarters compared to previous years. The drop in invitations is partially due to IRCC only inviting PNP candidates. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has not invited CEC candidates since September 2021. Moreover, we haven’t seen an FSWP draw since December 2020. These applicants don’t know where they stand in the queue.

Moreover, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) will be the main admissions program for economic class immigrants with IRCC looking to land 83,500 newcomers via the PNP in 2022. What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is an online system that Canada uses to manage applications for permanent residence under 3 programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade. Applicants are normally young, highly educated, have some work experience, and know English or French.
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently. Applicants in this group are normally licensed plumbers, welders, etc.
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC): skilled workers who have at least one year of full-time Canadian work experience in a professional capacity.

What to do if you receive an invitation to apply?
If you were invited to apply for permanent residence, you’ll get a message in your account telling you:
- Which program you’ve been invited to apply for
- What to do next
Also, you’ll need to show proof of the information you gave in your EE profile. IRCC will assess whether the information you submit in your application is different from what was in your profile. If the information is false or left out important details, IRCC could:
- Refuse your application
- Find you inadmissible
- Bar you for 5 years from applying to come to Canada for any reason
