A collection of laws and regulations that govern the visa and immigration process to Canada. The most important elements of the immigration law include the following:
- Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA)
- Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations
- Citizenship Act
- Citizenship Regulations
- Decisions by the Supreme Court of Canada on matters related to immigration
- Decisions by other courts such as the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal on immigration
In most cases, when we talk about immigration law, we are referring to IRPA.
